Council Biodiversity Officer, Chris asked volunteers to rake up the grass that had been cut in a large area of mixed grassland three weeks ago. The second task was to pollard young Poplar trees along the side of the path. The intention was to reduce shading by these trees and hope to stimulate an increase in water vole population in the stream on the opposite side of the path. The cut branches were piled to one side to form a dead hedge between the pollarded trees.
Chris thanked the group for their efforts
