Natural England wardens asked the group to cut down or pull outyoung Pine and Silver Birch seedlings on the heathland. Pine was cutat the base of the trunk to prevent any regrowth while Silver Birch was cut and sprayed to stop regrowth. This will prevent the Heath becoming overshadowed by trees to maintain its present biodiversity of small plants, animals, insects and fungi. The cuttings were piled then collected in a trailer for removal from the Heath. The volunteers were thanked for their efforts.
