A change of plan today as Alex from Dersingham United Charities had a surprise for us.
After giving a brief talk about the woodland management on the common, we walked up to where the ride crosses the common. Alex introduced us to Jeff, the horseman, who uses his horses to move logs that have been felled. Jeff took time out to tell us about the horses – Suffolk Punch and an Ardennes cross – how they were tacked up and how they worked before demonstrating their skills. After a most interesting morning the group thanked Jeff for his time to talk to us.
