Holme Dunes September

21/09/2022

Due to the state Funeral on Monday, our task was moved to Wednesday this week, with a smaller group of volunteers.

Rakes and pitchforks in hand , volunteers walked along the Coastal Path and then dropped down to the south of the path.
Grass and reed had been previously cut and the task was to rake this into piles and then deposit it at either end of the cut area.
Hard work as grass had started to grow through the cuttings following recent rain.
Following  lunch volunteers visited one of the hides with NWT assistant Tori,  and saw an array of birdlife including Marsh Harrier, Kestrel, Avocet, Redshank, Teal, Mallard, Egret and Snipe.
We also saw two Ospreys – however these were USAF aircraft!
John had fun and lots of advice on his newly acquired spotting telescope
