NWT Western Area Manager, Ash, described the acid loving plants Sundews, Cross Leaf Heather, White beaked Sedge and Bog Asphodel that occupied a thinly vegetated part of the Common, known as the Mire. In another part, Molinia grass that had dominated vegetation had been removed to expose the peat. This then allowed the long dormant species of Sundews etc to grow successfully. The plan was to continue to modify the structure of the Common by bringing water from one side to the other. Cattle (winter hardy Galloway) would be employed to control of vegetation .e Heath and describing the plants and animals there.
