Sue informed the Group that today’s walk would take them through a wood then across fields to a large area of scrapes. After walking through a permanent pasture with a large diversity of plant species, grazing Exmoor ponies and a herd of Red Poll cattle, they could see shallow ponds with a multitude of birds on them including Egrets, a variety of Seagulls, Grey Lag, Pink Foot, Canadian geese and Mute swans. In the air a Buzzard was mobbed by a Lapwing .. A Marsh Harrier sat in a tree before flying off to be mobbed as well. There were also the sound and sight of a Cuckoo and the harsh chatter of a Whitethroat. Some of the members walked beyond the sea bank to get a sight of the Wash where the tide was seen to be in.
